CASA Community Wednesdays (CCW)
What is CCW?
Wednesdays at CASA are something special! Known as CASA Community Wednesdays (CCW), these days provide students with meaningful opportunities for personal and academic growth through Crew and Project-Based Learning (PBL) Buckets.
What is CREW ?
Crew is our advisory and community-building structure designed to foster academic and social-emotional growth. Each Crew consists of 8-16 students led by an adult Crew Advisor, forming a supportive team where students can focus on developing essential skills through team-building, academic support, conflict resolution, and self-reflection activities. Crew time is structured around engaging lessons, activities, and meaningful routines inspired by NYC Outward Bound Schools’ best practices. This approach builds an equitable environment where every student’s voice is valued and heard.
What is PBL ?
Project-Based Learning (PBL) is a hands-on approach to education that allows students to explore real-world challenges and work towards impactful solutions. At CASA, students choose one of five PBL Buckets—STEM, Financial Literacy, Social Justice, Healthy Lifestyles, and Sustainability—based on their personal interests. Each PBL group collaborates on two major projects throughout the year, with a June showcase event to celebrate their hard work and achievements.

Every CCW, our students engage in meaningful learning experiences that go beyond traditional academics, preparing them to be active, compassionate, and informed members of their communities.
